i wasn’t planning on doing an infusion this month, but life sometimes has other plans and i have to be flexible with myself, lest i break further. so that said, i took the momentum, or at least the inertia, from the pace of the preceding week and scheduled my appointment and got to making a playlist to help guide me through today. i also bought an zero-pressure eye mask to help isolate myself from any potential disruptions and ‘go deep’

thankfully, i’d already earmarked a couple songs that i thought would work well and that i wanted to potentially explore with an infusion. specifically, i had really liked the pace of Drum & Lace‘s ‘Plucked.’ and then building from there I had recently been spending some time with both Lehnen’s recent album for the healing sound propagandist and Verya’s contribution for the quiet details imprint.

so between those three tracks, a general vibe began to crystalize. and i what developing was a more rhythmically works for this playlist than i usually do. i knew i wanted to avoid some of the drone and lean into the drums and harmony while still giving space for microtonal textures and ‘glitch’ – a slightly different approach to the quiet solitude that i often experience in during the infusions. i wanted something a little more major key, a little more movement in the playlist than usual.

another thing that caught me while working on this is my own tendency to gravitate to some set of arbitrary structures about HOW i make these playlist.- what type and length of song goes where, track and/or artist repeats, etc. and so when i caught myself being hamstrung by my own nonsense, i stopped, evaluated, and realize that its nonsense and these are just for me. and i have nothing to prove or justify and i made the conscious effort and action to completely ignore some of my own barriers and just go with instinct and ‘vibe’. as silly as it sounds, there was a liberation in breaking my own rules when i acknowledged they were not serving me in a manner that served my goal of both helping recalibrate my brain, but also potentially take me deeper into more of the metaphysical aspect of the k.

i guess i shall see if it works…
